“Roy and I got to know each other at his training camps in Lanzarote. As an “old school trainer”, I couldn’t do anything with his methods and even thought they were completely useless and sometimes too hard. Since his book “Triathlon Total” contains very interesting material on nutrition, alkaline body climate and many other topics, I read it, was enthusiastic and came to the (bike) formulas. I was amazed when I read that the formulas were verifiable and, above all, had been compiled over a period of 30 years! It was a logical step to rethink my training.
The book became a companion and reference work, Roy became my coach and even a role model in certain things. My goal for the 2017 season is to improve in the time trial in order to move up in the overall classification at a stage race in August. I trained according to Roy’s instructions and soon noticed an improvement and the first peak of the season came at the planned time. I was able to celebrate a victory in my first individual time trial. At one of the toughest road races at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, I was able to take fifth place and finish another time trial in third place.
This makes training fun. I feel extremely well looked after and understood. A particular plus point for me is that my training only takes up half the hours per week compared to before, but the increase is greater. If you decide to get coaching from Roy, you should definitely have a nutrition plan drawn up – there is probably no better “guru”.”
