I got to know your book in the 2nd edition and your holistic approach and the 3 formulas appealed to me right from the start. As a coach and athlete, it was the basis to start training in a structured way. Since I myself and my athletes have been training according to this principle for many years now, I can only give you extremely positive feedback. The values agree and especially the hours spent per week and the resulting successes/times cannot be compared with any approach that I had previously pursued.
This is so important because most of my athletes have full-time jobs and families. So your motto “The plan follows the athlete” has become something like my mantra. The quality and efficiency of the training have been increased and the hard facts (watts/running time) give the athletes security, comparability and orientation in their daily training. They were (depending on their age, of course) surprised themselves at the times they could achieve with an average of 8 hours of training over the long distance.
In all 4 long-distance races so far, I was able to rely on your training structure and values, and implement them perfectly in the competition. Even if my last IM didn’t live up to what I promised myself, that was only because I wasn’t able to start until January 22 and only had 6 weeks of swimming preparation. In addition, I then completely neglected one of your important specifications (swimming legs). The Neoban took its revenge bitterly. Nevertheless, it was a great race and a very emotional finish and I will take this experience with me into the new 22/23 season as an absolutely positive and enriching one.
