“When I was looking for someone who could train me, I heard about Roy Hinnen and first bought his book Triathlon Total. After reading it, I was very surprised, but pleased at the same time. I immediately contacted him and he created a training program for me.
I found it fascinating how open Roy dealt with everything. He once said to me: “Reinhardt, I think you have more or less no idea what an Ironman is. And if you want to train with me, then you have to train, not just dream about qualifying for Ironman Hawaii.” That gave me a lot to think about. But then I realized: He was right!
What I respect most about him is his honesty. But also his great expertise. The training programs were just great. My swimming has improved 100%. Using the technique Roy was teaching me, suddenly I wasn’t banged up after the swim.
I would like to say a big thank you to Roy for everything he has done for me and I highly recommend him. There has always been a friendly relationship between us. Even if he has a lot to do, he always took care of me, even though he had 30 other athletes in coaching at the same time. Roy is a good coach with the right level of clarity – and I think that’s great.
Roy, stay the way you are!”
