“After several years of triathlon experience, especially in the middle distance, I finally wanted to take the plunge in 2015 and see if the “long-distance dream” was feasible for me. However, as a mom with a 2-year-old son and working full-time, how you can “do something crazy like this” was something that caused me to shake my head beforehand. But my motivation to tackle the adventure was all the greater. Thanks to Roy, I was able to learn that targeted long-distance preparation is absolutely feasible even with a very tight time budget and an often unpredictable everyday life with family and job. Roy’s training plans and his practical tips were my common thread through 9 months of preparation for the Ironman Frankfurt. This gave me the security I needed to know that every training session would bring me a little closer to my big goal and helped me to “keep at it” despite some difficulties.
The result: I happily completed my first long-distance race and learned a lot about myself along the way, about my weaker self in training and my mental and physical limits in competition. Many thanks Roy!”
