“It was always my dream to finish an Ironman (long distance). Without any previous triathlon experience, I achieved this in Zurich 2016 after around 8 months of preparation (4th in my age group despite a very weak swim). Roy’s coaching was one of the absolutely crucial success factors. Creating the (varied) training plans was just one of the many aspects of his coaching. At least as important for me were his suggestions on detoxifying the body beforehand and on nutrition (acid/base balance, nutrition during training/competition), which meant a noticeably higher resilience to training stimuli and faster recovery. I should also mention the training control via watt measurement and TSS, which I introduced for myself at his suggestion. This enabled me to avoid overtraining and better understand the effects of training. Aerodynamics were not left out either (aero test approx. – 8-10 watts).

I can only recommend renting one of his altitude tents (brought me 1-2 gears in cycling or approx. +10-20 watts FTP). With his cleverly structured training sessions, he made me literally “feel” the importance of the right pacing on the bike and run course, which then proved to be decisive in the race. With this knowledge and experience, I was able to complete the bike course in a good time and still run the marathon at a constant pace right to the end. Of course, there were always obstacles in training due to smaller bobos etc. Roy adapted the training plans to these conditions. In general, however, the training stimuli were well matched to my body’s capacity. Although I did a good part of the training under the Spanish sun, the coaching was always ensured by Roy’s quick response time via email and telephone. Rating: Highly recommended!”
