“I’ve been active in sports for decades. At a young age as an ice hockey player and then for over 20 years as an orienteer. Due to a major knee injury, I was no longer able to run longer, which is why I did more training on the bike and in the water. It wasn’t much fun. The unloved alternative training always remained. I was therefore looking for new stimuli and training methods. Roy gradually introduced me to sports that were new to me. I was able to overcome my fear of open water swimming and can now swim 2km front crawl. On the bike I found the aero position and learned a lot about bike technique. Roy also gave support with the sensible choice of materials, such as neo, aero handlebars, seating position or watt meter.
At the age of 54, I gained joy in triathlon through the support. Roy also coached me through the difficult professional times when training was only second or third priority. The first triathlon in Zurich in 2017 was a good but also a tough experience. Now I’m aiming for a clear improvement. The training is intensive, varied and you need full concentration to do it properly. However, this also ensures a high level of efficiency, which I am looking for as a 100% professional in order to get the most out of the effort. In such a short time I would not have been able to make this progress without the support.”
